Introduction to Farmer Jer’s Backyard Gardens

Welcome to Farmer Jer’s backyard gardens. Here you’ll find organic heirloom tomatoes, hydroponic tomatoes, organic fruits and vegetables, and more! I’ve put together a small video introduction for you. It’s going to go live on Monday, September 16th, 2019 at 12:00 pm. Get ready, cause Farmer Jer’s a-coming to town! Metaphorically speaking that is.

Have you ever wanted to grow your own food? Well, I got the itch and just had to scratch. I’ve often felt that the measure of a man is one who can provide for his family. I decided to take the challenge on, head-on. And I’ve documented the journey for you.

In this introductions video, you’ll get a taste of, well, me. And my humble little backyard. I take you on a micro-journey through urban backyard gardening. I’ll show you all my tricks, and you can learn from all my mistakes as I document the whole process.

Backyard Gardens Background Info

So, you want to know a bit more background info, do you? Well, I’ll oblige ya then, folks! Okay, so it all started about a year and a half ago when my wife and I bought our first house out in Hamilton, Ontario. We didn’t have much money so we went with a modest bungalow. Well, I don’t need to tell you that homes are a lot more expensive than just a mortgage payment.

We ran into a few issues with the house, of course, and had to fork out a bunch of money to fix plumbing, redo the floor, that sort of thing. Therefore, our finances quickly took a beating.

And my health wasn’t much better than my finances, truth be told.

Fun times, not so much…

“Diet Mastery is essential to healthy living”

I changed my diet drastically, and with that came a lot of lifestyle changes as well. I had no choice in the matter. It was adapt or die, okay well maybe not quite that drastic but I can assure you, it sure felt that way. And it feels that way to this day if I break my diet rules.

The idea of eating organic not only became a good idea for me, but it also became a necessity. And so, I decided to start buying more organic. Boom! A left hook to the finances! How do I know if the ‘organic’ food is truly organic or not? I’m paying twice the price for it, but how do I REALLY know it’s safe. The answer: Grow it myself.

And so, Farmer Jer came forth from the bowels of my past and transformed from someone focused on Cynology, Ichthyology, and Herpetology and focused instead on Agriculture. Or, to be more specific, urban farming.

Join me on this journey, won’t you?
